WACOM Europe GmbH takes care of the business with graphic tablets and applied technologies Europe-wide and operates an extensive multi-lingual website with numerous information and interaction options - from product registration to a dealer domain with downloads right up to a forum for user questions and answers to provide service-oriented support to final customers and dealers. Previously this website was hosted on a system which no longer conformed to the current requirements in respect of capacity and stability, in particular the software used. Simultaneously with the system replacement, the provider was to be changed to save costs and the response times for revisions shortened.

 

The customer
Since it was established in 1983, WACOM succeeded in becoming a world leader for graphic tablets and made a name for itself as a pioneer in the development of the pen as the input implement for computers. WACOM has always aimed to make the working conditions in the computer world more ergonomic and natural. This permits not only more flexible handling of computer technology but also a wider spectrum of application options. The prime objective is to achieve the greatest possible harmony between user and computer.

 

The solution
In the initial project phase, swift.consult prepared concepts to resolve the set terms of reference. These included a concept to operate the new system landscape to transfer data between a staging system and a productive system to ensure a smooth change in the environment without any noticeable outage for the user. In the second project phase, the prepared concepts are implemented step for step and the software system to be developed for the "staging" concept created.
