Rapid data processing: Barcodes for the mobile telephone market

The mobile telephone market in eastern Europe and Africa is growing at an increasingly rapid pace. PrintBrokerHouse handles the printing business for supplies of mobile telephone packages to Serbia/Montenegro, the Sudan and other countries. Part of this printing business involves generating labels for mobile telephone packages. To do this, data such as mobile telephone number, serial number and card number are transmitted from a SAP system and allocated to the individual packages in the form of a barcode. A system had to be developed which automatically processes the data provided by SAP and ultimately prints these data as barcodes together with other information in order to guarantee mass processing. Not only is it necessary to produce individual labels with barcodes for each mobile telephone box but also comprehensive labels for a complete batch of packages which then start their journeys to their countries of destination.

The solution
swift.consult received the telephone call for this urgent assignment on Tuesday and on the following Sunday the barcode processor was already up and running, printing the required labels. For this application, swift.consult used Microsoft .NET technology which permits is absolutely essential to ensure that the barcode scanner imports the data correctly.
